A Royce Gracie Network in long Beach CA, Established in 2004. Royce Gracie is the son of founder of Brazilian/Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Master Helio Gracie. Bjj or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu changed the world of fighting when Royce defeated opponents much heavier than he in UFC 1. It showed the fighting world the importance of this discipline against other discipline which used strength rather than technique. Not only did Helio want to present this art to the fighting world but he wanted to emphasize the importance of it in the real world of self defense. The Gracies teach world-wide in Military and law enforcement and the US Military incorporated this art to it's doctrine. Jiu-Jitsu has many faces it is used differently in different situations. It can be used standing up or on the ground. Since it is innate for us to strike we must also learn how to defend ourselves once we are on the ground. In most real ife attack situations the attacker forces their prey onto the ground. Most will panick. This is why we MUST LEARN TO fight and defend on the ground! Evaldo Lima is the main Bjj instructor. He is a BLACK BELT under Royce Gracie has been training for 15 yrs. He is also a Long Beach resident for 20 yrs and counting.
